REC & FIT Scholarship
The REC & FIT Scholarship promotes physical activity amongst those in Montana living with cystic fibrosis. The scholarship can be used to cover expenses such as recreation activities (team sports, fitness classes, etc) as well as personal exercise equipment and memberships (ski pass, golf).
To apply, your medical practitioner must first complete our “Physician’s Form” endorsing your physical health.
At this time, our scholarships are not based on financial need.
Why exercise?
Many of us are taught the benefits of exercise at a young age. Regular physical activity can make us feel healthier longer, both mentally and physically. However, these benefits are even more necessary for those living with Cystic Fibrosis.
Regular exercise has been shown in research to improve lung function, increase bone strength, and improve your mood. It is also an excellent way to assist in the management of diabetes and heart disease, conditions those with Cystic Fibrosis are more susceptible to.
We encourage everyone with Cystic Fibrosis to speak to their physician about ways that they can bring exercise into their daily life.
Using the REC & FIT Scholarship means nothing is off-limits. Everybody in Montana with Cystic Fibrosis can experience the benefits of exercise in ways that they enjoy—be it skiing, running, or playing sports.
