Thanks to the generous support of our donors we are able to help Lloyd continue running and keeping his lungs strong.
“I love to run,” Lloyd told us, “As a young CF kid running was my thing.”
“But as I got into my late 30’s my lung function dropped enough that I needed oxygen to exercise. I wasn’t sure how I could do that.”
With the help of his wife, a nurse, Lloyd found that he could keep a small oxygen bottle in a backpack.
“I could wear that hiking, or take it to the gym to lift weights or do a class. It was also perfect to wear on my back for running. So I kept running.”
Despite this, Lloyd was unable to stay healthy for long periods of time. Constantly needing to recover meant he rarely saw improvement in his running.
“If I did see improvement, it was brief and then I would get sick and have to start all over again.”
Since beginning Trifakta, though, things have begun to look up.
“Trifakta didn’t change my lung function very much but it certainly changed how often I get sick. Over the summer I started to run and just kept going. I could run 3-4 times a week and was seeing great improvement in the distance I could cover. I felt my lungs getting stronger. I almost never got sick. It was amazing!”
The Cody Dieruf Benefit Foundation is excited to be able to help Lloyd continue chasing his passion with a REC & FIT scholarship for an indoor treadmill.
